After a recent performance of the abridged, English-language version of The Magic Flute, one of the Met's biggest fans got the chance to go backstage and meet some of the opera's cast members. Five-year-old Owen Westervelt, whose love for Mozart's enchanting fable even inspired him to dress as the opera's lovable bird catcher Papageno for Halloween, spent some time with the real-life Papageno, baritone Joshua Hopkins, and got a special glimpse behind the scenes.
Performances of The Magic Flute continue through January 4.

Currently, on stage in Handel’s Agrippina and modeled after St. Edward’s Crown, this extraordinary piece took three of the Met’s production teams (members of IATSE Locals 1, 764, and 829) more than a month of work to complete.
